ABSTRACT
Flashbacks are as tedious in historical writing as they are in the cinema, but there was something to be said for following the events in Lower Silesia and Lusatia in an uninterrupted sequence until the middle of March, by when it is impossible to ignore developments further east in the highlands where south-west Poland met Slovakia.
