ABSTRACT

The poet praises Sultán Mahmúd and then, having no subjectmatter in connexion with this dynasty, proceeds to narrate the story of the rise of the race of Sásán in the person of Ardshír Pápakán and of his triumph over Ardawán, the last of the Ashkánians. He then goes on to tell of Ardshír’s campaign against the Kurds, and of the strange case of Haftwád and the Worm.
