ABSTRACT

I am going to ask you to let me speak quite straight to you. Sometime ago when I was in India, I was much amused at the criticism of two soldiers upon a sermon they had just heard in the Garrison Church. One said to the other, ‘He do speak straight don’t he?’ ‘Yes!’ said the other, ‘it ain’t waste of time listening to a bloke like that preaching.’ I agree with that soldier. It is waste of time listening to people when you can’t make out what they want to say, and I will try not to fail in that way, so that I may not waste your time, or my own.
