ABSTRACT

Classroom management in practice cannot be isolated from all the other issues that contribute to good teaching and good schools. The most efficiently managed class will learn little if the material presented to pupils is dated, irrelevant or dull, and likewise, the most interesting of material, if taught in a badly organized or lacklustre way, is of little value. The management of classes cannot occur in a vacuum. The attitudes and values that frame the process are as significant as the skills and expertise displayed. A school's ethos is of critical importance in promoting effective classroom management and effective learning.
