ABSTRACT

The popular stereotype of crime assumes that the relationship between the criminal and his victim is one in which the victim has no knowledge of the criminal and his intentions. The occasion of the crime is one in which the victim takes all possible legal measures to protect his person, his morals, his rights, and his property against the actions of the criminal. The victim is assumed to support the police and the judiciary in the pursuit and conviction of the criminal and will gain in reputation by so doing.
