ABSTRACT
One of the main features of modern industrial society is the repeated incidence of technological innovation. This may consist of new machines, new methods of production, or new products. It may occur gradually on a small scale, or rapidly on a grand scale. The importance of human factors in such situations is often stressed; but scientific studies of these factors are still comparatively rare.
