In his first discussions at the Institute, the Managing Agent accepted, without reservation, that changes in the production system of the Calico Mills would require changes in management. He had no illusions about the possibility of changing workers' attitudes towards increased mechanization without some corresponding changes in management attitudes—'starting with my own'.
