ABSTRACT

The object of this chapter is to present in systematic, propositional form certain tentative generalizations about organizational change to which the case studies lead or which they underline. The chapter is therefore relevant to the claim that studies of the type I have described have a contribution to make towards general social theory. Few of the propositions, however, have been wholly derived from the three case studies. They are part of a general stream of reflection and research, and profit from existing knowledge gained elsewhere.
