What's the Topic? Analysing a text in a limited period of time

Of course one of the contexts for analysis is that of a formal examination, in which you will be asked to demonstrate the skills of analysis in a subject-specific manner. One such example is the AQA Communication Studies AS unit two (CMS2) in which candidates are required to respond to two similar (in terms of theme perhaps) texts in ninety minutes.
