ABSTRACT
Desmond Morris’s approach is a little more practical and a little more populist, in the sense that some of his work is consciously aimed at a non-specialist audience. In Body Talk Morris is interested in cataloguing the vocabulary of gestures and then providing a multilingual, multicultural dictionary of definitions. Two things are apparent from this: first, the enormous number of gestures we give out and receive; and second, the significant differences that are applied by the user-culture in terms of meanings.
