To some extent the explanation and understanding of interpersonal communication offered by Eric Berne was essentially a context-driven approach, though in this case the contexts are specifically emotional and psychological. In Games People Play Berne launched Transactional Analysis, a system for understanding what is really going on when people communicate which is part therapy, part critique.
