ABSTRACT

As we have seen, a Communication Studies student is likely to need to carry out research that may involve a detailed examination of some aspect of human communication. This may take the form either of observing and recording or setting up a scenario through which to observe the behaviour of participants as part of a research exercise. Whilst, as we have stressed, this must be done with much consideration for the hypothesis being tested and the outcome that is anticipated it may not take into account to the same degree the wellbeing of the participants in the research. This, however, needs to be an important consideration for any student who intends to undertake such research.
