ABSTRACT

The American writer Ernest Hemingway produced many pieces of journalism in addition to the novels, such as A Farewell to Arms, for which he is famous. One of the hallmarks of Hemingway’s style was his use of short sentences. By using short sentences, Hemingway sought to create an impact by writing with great simplicity and great clarity. He would argue that a sentence should not be asked to do too much work. If we load it with too much information it becomes overcomplicated and the reader has to do too much work.
