ABSTRACT
Germaine Greer wrote her seminal work of feminism The Female Eunuch in 1970 as a warning. The title’s metaphor is one of emasculation, of woman as ironically castrated, neutered. The Female Eunuch is a costume famously depicted on the book’s cover – on its hanger – which is where Greer sincerely hopes it will stay.
