ABSTRACT

If there is any sphere of human activity where we can be sure that the term postmodernism has meaning it is in architecture. Architects and urban theorists alike have long used the term to describe an unembarrassed melange of architectural styles which are our contemporary cityscapes. Postmodern architecture might take the form of one single building which draws on several eras of architectural design or a typical town or city centre where no attempt is made to harness all the buildings into one general unifying design.
