ABSTRACT

Marshall McLuhan is a name from the early days of Communication and Media Studies, a man with a string of aphorisms at his disposal, one of the key voices which defined the discipline. Part visionary, part philosopher, part entertainer, McLuhan’s purpose was to unsettle America and through this, the world. He did so in a style that is a mixture of articles, essays, jottings, and provocative illustrations as if to prove his perhaps most famous aphorism: the medium is the message.
