ABSTRACT

In this chapter we deal, at some length, with some of the important factors likely to affect the City’s economic future in the next ten to fifteen years. Inevitably we have had to be selective in our choice of factors and, in each case, we shall be concerned with broad trends rather than detailed projections. Later, in Chapters 8 to 13, we shall consider the impact of some of the findings of this chapter on particular activities in the City.
