ABSTRACT
Until 1956 the Monopolies Commission was primarily concerned with inquiries into the activities of trade associations. The Board of Trade selected its references carefully to range over as wide a field of business practices as possible. Many observers consider that the 1956 Restrictive Trade Practices Act was a logical outcome of the work of the Commission.
