ABSTRACT

Poetry is used to express worship of God and also to portray romantic love. Psalms, a collection of one hundred and fifty poems or songs, many attributed to King David. They were used in the public worship of Israel and later by the Christian Church, but also express individual concerns. Wisdom literature offers perspectives on human experience and guidance on practical issues of faith and daily life, such as how to respond to suffering, injustice and death. Wisdom is a quality which human beings need to seek and use if they are to live in obedient relationship to God. Proverbs contains several collections of sayings, offering guidance on daily living, choices and relationships. Wisdom, here personified as a woman, is seen as a basic principle of life through which God's blessing can be found. The Letter of James in bible encourages its audience to ask God for wisdom.
