ABSTRACT
EVIEWS OF the Pleistocene period in Africa by Flint (1959a, b), Clark (1959, R 1960), and Cooke ( 1958) have recently appeared. Each discusses the prob-lem from his own particular angle, and Flint has provided a framework of criteria for assessing the climatic significance of various geological observations, with particular regard to arid and semiarid environments.
