ABSTRACT
The great differences between tragedy and comedy are easy to feel, whether in seeing or in reading a play, but if we are to enjoy and appreciate Shakespeare fully, we must seek to understand as well as to feel these differences. The two forms of drama are not diametrical opposites in every way, but they patently differ at critical points.
