Collective Agriculture I

The great majority—some 85 per cent—of China's population is engaged in agriculture and of these farmers, again the great majority work the arable 11 per cent or so of the country's area. The rest of China, through lack of water or difficulty of terrain or of access, supports no agriculture save the scattered herding of livestock.
