ABSTRACT
The subject of manufacturing industry is of particular importance because the development of secondary industries is the principal objective of all Third World policies aimed at economic growth. Moreover the degree of industrialization attained by under-developed countries is frequently used to mark the stages in their upwards progress from ‘unindustrialized’ beginnings.
