ABSTRACT
We have included a discussion of the Lachish District in the present study for two reasons: (a) the work of settlement was launched only a few years ago, viz. in 1955, and proceeded according to a special plan; (b) this is an area with settlements only of the moshav type. Of the twelve villages here ten are ordinary co-operative moshavim while the remaining two are moshavim shitufiim.
