ABSTRACT

A considerable rise in the price of corn after the harvest of 1836, a pressure upon the money market, and tho failure of some banks, gave indication that the prosperity which had for some time been enjoyed was not to be of much longer continuance. Towards the end of the year an Anti-Corn-Law Association was formed in London, with the following gentlemen for its committee:—
