ABSTRACT
This book presents a theory of aesthetic education that addresses the needs of the current moment in society, culture, and education. These needs prescribe the revitalization of the capacity for genuine judgment in the society, the reaffirmation of the ideal of aesthetic excellence in the culture, and a commonsensical ordering of our thoughts about teaching the arts in the schools.
