The Polish Independent Peace Movement book
In this lengthy declaration, WiP confirms its previous commitment to the cause of liberty while highlighting the importance of issues that are traditionally associated with the cause of peace. In the part devoted to liberty, what is most striking is the attention given to prisoners' rights, to the rights of Polish minorities abroad (for example in the Soviet Union and in Czechoslovakia), and to the right to resort to force in a life-threatening situation. The most interesting points in the second segment on peace are WiP's views on the need for democracy in Eastern Europe (whether this area is nuclear free or not); on the significance of German-Polish reconciliation; and on environmental control-an issue entirely neglected earlier.
