ABSTRACT
Chapter one ended with a list of epistemological issues and a promise to have discussed them all by the end of this book. An “epistemology,” remember, is a set of assumptions about knowledge and how it may be validly obtained. In this chapter I will be more concerned with ontology than with epistemology. Our discussion of critical epistemology will begin with chapter four.
