ABSTRACT
Jor-El and his wife live on the planet Krypton thousands of years in advance of earthly civilization. To escape the imminent explosion of their world they dispatch their only son in a starship to earth, where he will grow up with X-ray vision, able to fly, knowing virtually everything and immune to physical attack. In Middle America in 1948 a childless couple, Jonathan Kent and Martha Clark Kent, find the boy and bring him up as their own son, though he soon begins to show extraordinary powers. When Jonathan dies, the boy leaves his mother to journey to the frozen north where he experiences his natural father’s recorded presence.
