ABSTRACT

In recent years, following the introduction of hypermedia authoring software such as GUIDE, HYPERCARD and TOOLBOOK, the creation of hypermedia training packages is now a practical possibility. Such systems allow users to interact not only with simple text and graphics but also with computer-controlled sound, video and with sophisticated animation. Conventional hypertext systems have allowed users to explore text in individualised, non-sequential ways. In hypermedia systems, the addition of both sound and visual images significantly enhances the richness of the instructional material. This should facilitate the quality of interaction.
