ABSTRACT

Save and tink tink are Tok Pisin words; save (from the Portuguese word: saber) stands for knowledge, and tink tink for thinking. But for Wind Nation, these words have an added meaning. Save stands for knowledge in the meaning of formal education such as provided by community schools. It implies knowledge how to do things; cleverness. Tink tink stands for feeling, for contemplating, for understanding things. It has strong connotations of creative thought, meditation, philosophy and traditional wisdom. 1 Save is said to be seated in the head, tink tink in the belly.
