ABSTRACT
In this and the following chapter I would like to examine the principles of hierarchy and purity within Sarada Mandiram. This is a particularly interesting topic, as generally saṃnyāsa is understood as a state in which the usual constraints of hierarchy and purity (applicable to Hindu householders) do not apply.
