ABSTRACT
So far I have described a number of features typical of the Turkic languages, on the one hand, and discussed some supposedly generally attractive linguistic features and their relative significance for susceptibility in contact situations, on the other. As it turns out, the Turkic languages display a remarkably large amount of these putatively attractive qualities. This chapter will examine, on the basis of examples taken from various areas, what type of elements Turkic languages and some of their contact languages have been prone to copy from one another, i.e. which features have proven to be relatively attractive.
