ABSTRACT

In Chapter I the first Hurrian settlements were described as comprising loose chieftainships, in the valleys of the mountainous country south of the Caucasus, between Lakes Van and Urmia. They were probably also found on the northern shores of Lake Van, where later their first capital, Arzashkun, was established. Those independent chieftainships shared not only the same language, but each tribe also worshipped a manifestation of the same god, Khaldi, suited to its needs. 1
