ABSTRACT

From afar it can sometimes seem that the effects of the crisis are homogeneous and all-pervasive … And yet it is clear that not only are the differences between countries highly significant in mapping out the effects of the crisis but that even within regions of countries there are some industries and some people who have been much more severely affected than others. Indeed, there are people who are doing very well. While some unevenness of impact is predictable, there have also been some surprises.
