ABSTRACT
This chapter first illustrates that teaching has to satisfy and stimulate the thirst for learning, so that active learning and teaching are closely linked but are not identical. The link is made clearer by reference to psychological theories of learning, which lead to a discussion and analysis of the methods of teaching mathematics.
