ABSTRACT

The distribution of the national income between wages, salaries, rents and profits is first examined, and comparison made with 1911. Next, information derived from income and supertax statistics, and certain other sources discussed in Chapter II., is used to give “Pareto curves” showing the distribution of income in 1924 and 1928. Calculations are made of the average money and real income per occupied person and per family. Finally, an examination is made of the amounts collected in various forms of taxation and in rates, redistributive State and Local Authorities’ expenditure, social services, and the surpluses or deficits on Government, Local Authority and social insurance funds account.
