ABSTRACT

By which there arifeth a queftion, whether the poyfon which he fendeth forth, proceed from his breath, or from his eyes. Whereupon it is more probable,that like the Cockatrice he killeth by feeing, then by the breath of his mouth, which is not competible to any other Beafts in the world. Befides when the Souldiers of Marius followed Jugurtba, they faw one of thefe Gorgons, and fuppofing it was fome Sheep, bending the head continually to the ea r th , and moving flowly, they fet upon him with their fwords, whereat the Beaft difdaining, fuddenly difcovered his eyes, fetting his hair upright, at the fight whereof the Souldiers fell down dead.
