ABSTRACT

Mr. Lander having completed his arrangements with Pascoe, Mina, Jowdie, and some other men who had accompanied him on his former expedition as interpreters, we took leave of our hospitable friend the Governor of Cape Coast Castle at four p.m. of the 11th, and left our anchorage under canvass. The Columbine in heaving short broke the arm of her anchor, and came to again with her best bower. As we had drifted to leeward a considerable distance, we continued on our course for the river Nun, expecting the brig and the Alburkah to follow us during the night.
