ABSTRACT

The organisation of the courts in Zanzibar, their respective jurisdiction, and the law which each applies are of more than ordinary interest on account of the "dual jurisdiction" exercised by the British courts and the Zanzibar courts respectively. Since, however, admirable monographs1 on this subject are easily available, it will be sufficient here to summarise the position as it now stands in its broadest outline, devoid of details or of historical explanation.
