ABSTRACT

It is significant that Sadat gave the title In Search of Identity to his autobiography. He was always, almost to the last day of his life, trying to comprehend what precisely was his ultimate role in transforming Egypt and why the country had fallen so far behind his ideals. With his strong sense of justice, fairness, and pride, which he learned from his grandmother, Anwar Sadat felt a sense of disgust with the state of the country.
