ABSTRACT
The first team of Israeli diplomats arrived in Cairo in early March 1980. Beyond the first contacts with the Egyptian authorities and the difficulty in adapting to a totally unfamiliar environment which was understandably perceived as inimical and dangerous - arose the urgent need to find proper housing for the staff, the ambassador and the chancery.
