ABSTRACT
Buthelezi does not expect everyone to like him or to give him unqualified loyalty. There are aspects of his personality that some people do not like. There are people who would prefer him to be more unbending; there are others who cannot understand why he appears ‘to stand on his dignity’. He is intelligent enough to guide his actions to the extent that behaviour that might appear spontaneous in others appears calculated in him. He is over-perceptive of what happens around him, keenly aware all the time of actions and reactions to all that is happening.
