ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses various functions which serve to make large worksheets more manageable. These functions include: the ability to locate a particular value quickly; jumping to the end of a row or a column; or keeping data labels visible while scrolling through the dataset. They represent one area where keyboard shortcuts are usually the most expedient method. The chapter provides several examples of large worksheets in property which include databases, multi-tenanted cash flows, portfolio analysis models and some more complex statistical analysis models. The object of formatting is to make particular cells stand out to distinguish between different types of information in a worksheet. The Accounting number format without currency symbols is normally the neatest for large currency data sets. Currency format allows the relevant currency symbol to be placed with the label. There are many impressive worksheets in existence. Some are impressive principally for their long formulae.
