ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on how a map can be produced in Excel. One method where data is distributed in geographical regions is to add a chart to each region so that the overall perspective can be seen. The data on which a map is to be based may be held on other databases, and it will therefore be necessary to transfer it into an Excel file. The items of data will normally be delimited by tabs, commas or spaces, so select the appropriate option and follow the instructions. Macintosh users who are looking for a database might well consider FileMaker which has been designed to have close compatibility with Excel. The charts shows capital values for the last three years and are to be shown on the respective counties on the map. Microsoft MapPoint is a separate Microsoft application with which a wide variety of maps can be plotted from the data.
