ABSTRACT

The surveyor appointed by the building owner will write to the surveyor appointed by the adjoining owner suggesting three names for selection as third surveyor. Appointment only arises if the two surveyors are unable to agree and one or both refer the matter to the third surveyor and he agrees to accept the appointment. The surveyor appointed by the building owner, is usually referred to as the building owner’s surveyor. The surveyor appointed by the adjoining owner is generally called the adjoining owner’s surveyor. The third surveyor who is selected by the two appointed surveyors is abbreviated to TS. In fact all the three surveyors are supposed to be independent regardless of who appointed them, though the appointed surveyors may have regard to the interest of the person who appointed them.
