ABSTRACT
This chapter describes the professional bodies involved in council tax to view the organisational structure and activities of a schematic professional body. It outlines the education, training and development of typical personnel in council tax. The chapter also describes the principal groupings of those involved in council tax. The council tax "industry" is directly and indirectly well-endowed with administrative, professional or technical experts who cluster in one or more of several organisations. The chapter shows some of the many roles and activities of those public and private organisations, officers and others who participate in council tax and council tax benefit matters. The Chartered Institute of Public Finance Accountants is a professional institute providing technical information, analysis, audit guidance and comment on a range of council tax and council tax benefit matters. It also offers professional support, training, and information for public finance accountants and others.
