ABSTRACT

The pre-site meeting is required to sort out a wide range and number of matters that affect the conduct of the survey. Surveyors may need to be able to provide some kind of proof of identity on arriving at site, as authorisation or as a security check. As any building surveyor of any experience will appreciate, a systematic structured approach to the survey inspection is absolutely vital to ensure that the inspection is conducted thoroughly and that, so far as is reasonably practicable, all ACMs are identified in the survey. Surveyors should also be ready to use the local knowledge of people who were or have been involved in the construction, refurbishment and maintenance of the premises. The survey activity itself will involve a number of hazards. The surveyor should ensure that the software is appropriate and useable for field use and that the hardware is also sufficiently robust for site work.
