ABSTRACT
Learning groups involve more than an exchange of information and ideas. In a particular design, the relationships defined between students and between staff and students will affect how much is learned and the quality of learning. But more than that, these evolving social processes inevitably form part of the students’ experience of the activity and, as such, provide an additional if often unintended source of learning, a concept I explore further in Chapter 5.
