ABSTRACT

A common feeling about teaching core skills in an integrated way is ‘Good idea, but how do I do it?’ Indeed you may ask ‘Do I have to do it, isn't it someone else's responsibility? After all I only know about finance or physics or design. What part can I play? Anyway I’ve got enough to do just teaching my bit.’ All of these are sentiments I have heard being expressed at the beginning of courses but by the end of a course or at the end of the first year, once people have gained confidence working with the core skill and vocational units, have established patterns of working and find they produce motivated students who want to learn, then they often change their mind.
